Best Gacha and RPG Games for iOS and Android
Another Eden
Another Eden isn’t the most popular gacha game, but it’s actually pretty good. The writer of the story and the composer of the music are the same as the Chrono Trigger.
In fact, there are quite a few odes to Chrono Trigger in the game, including time travel and other little story and design elements. The gacha element is pretty poor, but we think it will grow over time. The mechanics are a bit different from the traditional mobile RPG.
You move around a map and participate in story missions like in early console JRPGs, instead of the usual mission-type gameplay. It’s surprisingly good, even if it’s a bit different from most gacha games.
The Alchemist Code
The Alchemist Code is a popular mobile role-playing game. It uses a strategy RPG mechanic instead of the usual jRPG. That means you move units across the board to attack enemies.
The game also includes 50 collectible characters, a cooperative multiplayer mode, various special events, and competitive PvP. The game has a good soundtrack, good graphics, and lots to do. It’s not bad at all.
Arknights
Arknights is a hybrid between a gacha RPG and a strategy RPG. Many of the main mechanics are similar. There is a campaign mode, various temporary events, and hundreds of characters to summon.
However, the combat is much less JRPG and more SRPG. It’s a bit slower overall, but some like the strategy element. The game also includes an auto-deployment mode and a surprisingly decent soundtrack.
It has the same kind of player charm as Azur Lane, and there is a much greater focus on collecting characters than other parts of the game.
Azur Lane
Azur Lane is an above-average gacha game. It is also a riff from the popular Kantai Collection game in Japan. In any case, this one has a side-scrolling shooter mechanic, although you self-bat in most of your encounters.
You summon the characters as normal, except that each character is a WWII-era ship shaped like a girl. You float and hit enemies. The game features over 300 characters, hundreds of things to do, and a ton of the usual gacha game fair.
The user interface is a bit overwhelming at first and some of the English translations are pretty bad, but the rest of the game is fun.
Bleach Brave Souls
Bleach Brave Souls is one of several gacha RPGs whose theme is a long-running shonen. We opted for Bleach Brave Soul, but you can try Ultimate Ninja Blazing (Naruto), Dragon Ball Legends and One Peace Treasure Cruise.
In any case, Bleach Brave Souls has an action RPG mechanic, a very solid gacha system, tons of characters to summon, and even play PvP online if you want.
Like most, the grind in this game is a bit intense and the extraction rates can be a bit frustrating at times. However, with a little patience, you can usually get the big meta pulls when you need them.
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is one of the numerous Final Fantasy gacha games. Most of them are pretty good, but Brave Exvius is a bit better than the rest. It is very friendly with the F2P.
Plus, it includes a long history, hundreds of units to summon, a ton of special events, and a ton of other things to do. Combat is turn-based jRPG style with the usual range of special abilities.
Plus, it has crossovers with other Square Enix sagas for an extra dose of nostalgia. The developer, Gumi, also makes the Brave Frontier series . It is functionally identical to Brave Exvius minus the Final Fantasy part.
Other excellent Final Fantasy porridge are Final Fantasy: Record Keeper and FFBEWar of the Visions(a strategy RPG). Square Enix is also very competitive in this space with Romancing SaGa Re; univerSe .
Fire Emblem Heroes
Fire Emblem Heroes is Nintendo’s foray into the world of gacha games. Fortunately, Nintendo has done a good job.
This game is very solid, with fun and colorful graphics and hundreds of things to do.
There are a wide variety of characters to summon from the Fire Emblem series. Use strategy RPG mechanics like console games. We also like the little details in this game. For example, Nintendo tells you the percentage of chances to summon really good units.
It is quite F2P friendly and fun to play. It has an excellent story and gameplay similar to that of the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS versions.
Nintendo has done a great job with this game. Nintendo has also created Dragalia Lost, another excellent gacha RPG that you should try.
Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact is an action RPG with gacha elements. It’s also one of the best in the genre as of 2020. The game looks and feels a bit like Zelda: Breath of the Wild .
You can explore every pixel of the landscape and you even have a glider to make travel easy.
There is a good story along with an excellent soundtrack and a good selection of characters. The elements of gacha are quite different. Characters are earned through missions in the game, rather than getting them from tickets like in most other games.
If the developers can keep up, this game is becoming something special. MiHoYo Limited has also created Honkai Impact 3rd , another excellent gacha game.
MARVEL Strike Force
MARVEL Strike Force is one of the few western porridge that is worth your time. It plays like most mobile RPGs.
Assemble a team of your favorite MARVEL characters (both good and bad) to fight a new threat.
The story of the game is quite good, and indeed it is a great work if you avoid the PvP aspect of the game. Unfortunately, like most western porridge, the developers charge a lot of money for the new characters (which represent the new meta when they are released).
It’s pretty easy to avoid if you limit yourself to PvE, but impossible if you play PvP in the least. Stay for the story, leave PvP alone, and this is a reasonably good gacha game.
Princess Connect! Re: Dive
Princess Connect! Re: Dive was actually released a long time ago in Japan, but only had its worldwide release in 2021. The game is a lightweight gacha with RPG mechanics.
There is a list of more than 50 characters to summon. You can level up each one, equip various equipment, and more. Each character has a bonus ranking that unlocks extra missions and other things.
This game features a better combat system than most gacha RPGs, online PvP content, and a surprisingly good story and soundtrack. There are some complaints about cheats in PvP, but otherwise the game is really good.
Tales of Crestoria
Tales of Crestoria was one of the most anticipated gacha titles. It basically fulfills the same function as Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, except for fans of Tales.
The game includes a story where you build a team with a bunch of characters from all the Tales games. It uses turn-based combat and it’s definitely not the same as the action RPG combat of a typical Tales game.
Still, it has the charming look and feel of a Tales game and the story isn’t bad at all. It is relatively easy to play, although not as easy as other games on the list.
It’s definitely good for Tales fans and maybe people who want to get into the Tales universe.
